The year 2014 has started with a bang, a new year means a new chance to update our wardrobes, our looks and our style. Fashion’s constant evolution takes new turns and inspires new themes.
Summer is about transformative clothes. It’s about boiling down everything that was on the runways to the one thing (or 75-plus things) to buy next season that will instantly update a look.
Trends in 2014 for the Guys
It’s no secret that menswear has fully embraced pattern and colour over the past few seasons, with many men becoming much more adventurous with their styling and clothing choices.
Even though the global SS14 fashion week featured many more monochrome palettes than we are perhaps used to, black on black and white on white outfits were particularly prevalent, true to recent form, the majority of designer collections incorporated bold, warm-weather appropriate hues.
The Smart-Casual Dinner Jacket
The smart-casual dinner jacket is one of the key trends to look out for in 2014. The dinner jacket widens its reach by means of decadent velvet, jacquard and damask designs are styled with denim, open-necked shirts and jersey T-shirts taking even the most opulent of formalwear towards a more casual middle ground. Dinner jackets with shrunken proportions and a touch of rocker styling are ideal for a night out on the town.
Some Trends in 2014 for the Ladies
This particular type of trend is believed to be harking back to the 1960s. This retro style takes advantage of simple designs and shapes, whilst Mod World focuses its attention on two different colour themes. Firstly it is around multi-coloured items as well as a black and white palette. This gives the impression of being both strong and elegant which would go alongside numerous jewellery items including wedding rings. Other key patterns that Mod World features are; Geometric design, cabana stripes, cropped pants and of course A-line dresses.
This is considered to be the perfect blend of detailed embroidery which sits beautifully alongside a number of different metallic materials not to mention embellishment.
Meanwhile there are also halter dresses as well as pencil skirts which are hot to trot. In addition to this, ladies will have the opportunity to enjoy not just Indian but a wealth of Moroccan and North African influences including; handwork and plenty of diverse vibrant colours.
Style is everything!
